Press Release – 20 June 2026
SmartHomes Infrastructure Pvt. Ltd., a real‑estate developer operating in Dholera since 2015, issued a corporate‑social‑responsibility announcement titled “Green SmartHomes. Green Dholera.” The initiative commits the company to facilitate the planting of more than five lakh (500,000) trees across Dholera Smart City and its surrounding region over the coming years.
The company reports that it has already planted over 3,000 trees within its flagship township, Dholera Forest Estate, and outlines a phased target of approximately 40,000 trees in that estate. In addition, SmartHomes plans to plant roughly one lakh (100,000) trees at its Dholera Resort Estate, contributing to the overall five‑lakh‑tree goal.
Founder and Director Rupinder Singh Khurana stated that Dholera’s rapid industrialisation, infrastructure creation, logistics expansion and manufacturing growth will require “not thousands but millions of trees” to maintain ecological balance. He emphasized that the city’s green cover must grow in tandem with its economic ecosystem. Director Meenakshi Khurana added that sustainability is a responsibility of long‑term stakeholders and that the programme will combine plantation drives with environmental‑awareness activities, involving schools, NGOs, resident groups and other local partners.
Beyond tree planting, the CSR programme aims to enhance biodiversity, sequester carbon, improve air quality, conserve soil, and build climate‑resilience for the emerging smart‑city environment. SmartHomes positions the initiative as integral to its broader vision of responsible development, asserting that a truly sustainable city requires parallel growth of physical and environmental infrastructure.
The press release also references Dholera’s status as India’s first greenfield smart city, highlighting ongoing projects such as the Dholera International Airport, Ahmedabad‑Dholera Expressway, National Maritime Heritage Complex, semiconductor manufacturing facilities, renewable‑energy parks, industrial zones, educational institutions, healthcare infrastructure, residential communities, hospitality and commercial developments.
