Snugs Launches In‑House Science‑Backed Baby Carriers
Snugs, a family‑owned direct‑to‑consumer organic baby brand founded by Amil Asokan and co‑founder Dr. Anjali, announced a new range of baby‑wearing carriers that are designed, cut, stitched and quality‑checked within its own Indian manufacturing facility. The integrated approach allows the company to control product quality and safety, with each carrier undergoing months of research and development, ergonomic testing for infant hips and spine, weight‑distribution analysis for parents, and pull‑testing at all load points before dispatch. Prototypes are also trialled with parents prior to market launch.
The product portfolio comprises the Snugs Embrace structured buckle carrier (suitable for babies from two months up to 20 kg), the Snugs Easy Wrap stretchy lyocell wrap with elastane (for babies weighing 3.6 kg to 15 kg), the Snugs Side Carrier single‑strap hip carrier (for babies from eight months to 20 kg), a Women’s T‑Shirt Carrier made with Tencel for newborns up to 8 kg, and the Easy Romper infant garment crafted from organic cotton for newborns to 12 months. Fabrics used across the range include organic cotton, organic linen, Tencel, Modal and lyocell, all sourced from premium Indian manufacturers, many of which also export these materials.
Snugs reports having served more than 1 lakh customers across India through its website and Amazon platform, and its carriers rank among the highest‑rated baby carriers on Amazon India, with reviews from numerous Indian parenting creators on Instagram and YouTube. The manufacturing unit is largely staffed by skilled women, many of whom are primary earners in their families, and the company follows fair‑wage and safe‑working practices. Production does not involve subcontracting to unknown units; instead, low‑waste cutting techniques and batch traceability are employed to minimise waste.
Looking ahead, Snugs intends to expand its baby‑product portfolio while maintaining its focus on ergonomics, safety, comfort and material quality, leveraging its in‑house manufacturing and medical‑insight‑driven product development.
