Appointment Overview
Social Alpha, described as India’s largest venture development platform, announced the appointment of Neeraj Jain as Chief Executive Officer, effective 1 September 2026, as the organisation enters its second decade of operation.
Background of the New CEO
Jain joins Social Alpha after serving as Regional Head of PATH, bringing three decades of global leadership experience across both development and private‑sector organisations, with a track record of institution building and profit‑and‑loss ownership.
Social Alpha’s Decade‑Long Impact
During its first ten years, Social Alpha has supported more than 450 start‑ups, awarded over 400 catalytic grants, and made 100+ seed investments. The platform’s portfolio has reached an estimated 3.5 million beneficiaries across more than 400 districts in 28 Indian states. Specific impact metrics include:
- Distributed renewable energy solutions serving approximately 375,000 households.
- Technologies benefiting over 200,000 small‑holder farmers.
- More than 20 MedTech innovations adopted within public and private health systems.
Social Alpha has also unlocked over $100 million to de‑risk innovation and enabled its portfolio companies to attract in excess of $150 million in follow‑on capital.
Strategic Focus Under New Leadership
Jain will concentrate on accelerating the adoption and scaling of science‑ and technology‑led innovations, moving beyond development and testing to address financing, market access, distribution, and deployment challenges. This will involve strengthening connections across governments, academia, industry, researchers, investors, and implementation partners, both within India and in other geographies where social inequity exists.
Founder’s Comment
Manoj Kumar, Founder of Social Alpha, welcomed Jain, noting his three‑decade global leadership experience and his deep understanding of the organisation’s mission, stating that Jain will drive the next phase of an impactful journey.
CEO’s Statement
Neeraj Jain emphasized that while technology remains a core component, financing, distribution, market linkages, partnerships, and government policy support are equally critical to moving innovations toward adoption and scale.
