Sonalika Marks 30‑Year, 20 Lakh Tractor Milestone
On July 11, 2026, Sonalika Tractors celebrated the rollout of its 20‑lakhth (2,000,000th) tractor from the world’s largest integrated tractor manufacturing plant in Hoshiarpur, Punjab. The milestone underscores a 30‑year legacy that began with the launch of the first Sonalika tractor in 1996.
The Hoshiarpur facility, situated in a town of just over 18 lakh (1.8 million) residents, has evolved from producing two tractors a day at inception to now delivering a tractor every two minutes, reflecting a dramatic scale‑up in manufacturing efficiency. The plant is fully equipped to manufacture every component in‑house, leveraging advanced robotics and automation, and each tractor undergoes comprehensive testing to meet stringent performance, durability, and reliability standards.
Sonalika, operating under International Tractors Limited, is India’s No. 1 tractor export brand, serving more than 150 countries and ranking among the Fortune 500 India companies. The company has pioneered price transparency by publishing tractor prices and service costs on its website.
During the ceremony, Dr. Amrit Sagar Mittal, Vice Chairman of International Tractors Limited, described the event as an emotional moment that reflects India’s manufacturing excellence and the company’s commitment to farmer prosperity. Dr. Deepak Mittal, Managing Director, emphasized the global reach of Indian engineering, noting that tractors built in Hoshiarpur now power farms across 150 plus countries. Joint Managing Director Raman Mittal highlighted the 100 % in‑house manufacturing model and reaffirmed the firm’s resolve to continue empowering farmers worldwide.
The press release concludes by noting that Sonalika will celebrate 30 years of empowering farmers in 2026, reinforcing its role in strengthening rural prosperity and positioning India as a leader in global farm mechanisation.
