Inauguration and Dedication
On October 11, 2026, Sri Abhinava Vidyatirtha Multispeciality Hospital in Sringeri inaugurated a new state‑of‑the‑art Cath Lab and an MRI Centre. The ceremony was led by Jagadguru Shankaracharya Sri Vidhushekhara Bharati Mahaswamiji, who formally dedicated the Sri Bharati Tirtha Centre for Cardiac & Neuro Sciences and the Sri Vidyaranya Centre for Radiology & Imaging to public use.
Leadership Remarks
Sri P. A. Murali, CEO & Administrator of Sringeri Math, emphasized the Math’s historic commitment to rural health and stated that the advanced cardiac and MRI facilities will enable world‑class treatment to be delivered closer to home for the Malnad region. Dr. Lakshmi Raghav, Deputy Medical Superintendent, highlighted that the new facilities will eliminate the need for patients to travel to Shivamogga, Mangaluru or Bengaluru during emergencies, reinforcing the hospital’s patient‑centric, affordable‑care approach.
Technology Highlights
The Cath Lab is equipped with the Philips Azurion 7 C20 (Version 3.0) system, making the hospital the first in Karnataka to install this advanced technology. Key features include Clarity IQ Technology, which reduces X‑ray radiation exposure by up to 70% compared with conventional systems, and integrated 3D imaging with Cone Beam CT (CBCT) that delivers real‑time, high‑resolution cross‑sectional views of the brain, vasculature and ischemic or hemorrhagic changes during acute stroke and neurovascular interventions. Fibre‑optic and VOIP connectivity provide faster data transfer and stable subsystem integration, while remote service support ensures high reliability for complex cardiac, neuro and vascular procedures.
Service Availability and Community Initiative
The Cath Lab will be open to the public from December 1, 2026. The MRI Centre is already operational. As a special Navaratri initiative running from October 12 to October 22, 2026, eligible beneficiaries will receive free MRI scans. Patients can obtain further information by contacting the hospital’s advisory centre.
