Overview
Star Health and Allied Insurance Company Limited (NSE: STARHEALTH, BSE: 543412), one of India’s leading standalone health insurers, announced the launch of a first‑of‑its‑kind initiative called “Bishram Grih” at select Durga Puja pandals in Kolkata and Durgapur. The company will set up two Bishram Grih lounges in Kolkata and one in Durgapur, operating from 11 AM onward between 16 October and 20 October 2026.
Initiative Details
Each Bishram Grih provides a lounge‑style space where pandal hoppers can rest, enjoy complimentary tea and water, and recharge before continuing their festivities. A key feature is a technology‑led Face Scan health‑assessment kiosk. Through a simple, contactless facial scan, visitors receive an instant indicative health report covering approximately 17 health parameters, including heart rate, respiratory rate, stress index and heart‑rate‑variability (HRV) metrics. The assessment is designed to raise awareness of stress, recovery and vital‑sign indicators.
Executive Comments
Mr. Himanshu Walia, Whole‑time Director & Chief Marketing Officer of Star Health, said the festival is close to every Bengali’s heart and that the Bishram Grih aims to combine festive convenience with preventive health awareness. He emphasized that the contactless Face Scan encourages visitors to become more aware of select health indicators in a simple and accessible manner. Mr. Atin Roy, Business Head – West Bengal, highlighted that the lounges address a practical need for comfortable rest spaces and that the complimentary health assessment adds meaningful value to the Durga Puja experience.
Visitor Guidance
Star Health urges pandal hoppers—especially senior citizens and families with young children—to stay hydrated, take regular breaks between pandal visits, wear comfortable footwear and seek medical advice if they experience any discomfort during the festivities.
