Star Health Arogya Seva Kendra (ASK) Programme Impact

Star Health and Allied Insurance Company Limited, in partnership with Piramal Foundation’s Piramal Swasthya, has established 32 Arogya Seva Kendra (ASK) clinics across Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal and Maharashtra. Within the first year of operation the clinics recorded 1.83 lakh (183,000) beneficiary visits, averaging 38 patients per clinic per day.

The clinics provide free MBBS doctor consultations, diagnostic tests, medicines for common and chronic ailments, and health counselling. They have performed approximately 1.84 lakh (184,000) laboratory tests for more than 90,000 beneficiaries and dispensed free medicines around 1.67 lakh (167,000) times.

Screening activities identified over 82,000 beneficiaries with diabetes and about 1.16 lakh (116,000) with hypertension. Lifestyle‑related diseases accounted for roughly 33 % of all detections. More than 57 % of beneficiaries returned for a repeat visit, enabling ongoing monitoring of conditions.

Preventive services included 4,185 pneumococcal vaccinations for adults, delivered with technical support from Pfizer. The programme also conducted 326 health‑awareness sessions that reached over 18,500 participants, covering hygiene, prevention and early detection.

Star Health funds the capital and operational costs of the ASK network under its CSR allocation, while Piramal Swasthya handles implementation, staffing and clinical governance. Anand Roy, Managing Director and CEO of Star Health, stated that the initiative aims to touch one million lives and that the network will be expanded to more than 55 clinics in over 15 states by the end of FY 27. Ajay Piramal, Chairman of Piramal Foundation, echoed the commitment to scale the model to serve additional communities.

A beneficiary story highlighted Prasad Sandhya, a 51‑year‑old diabetic from Kurnool, whose random blood‑sugar level fell from approximately 350 mg/dL to 165 mg/dL after receiving free consultations, medicines and counselling at an ASK clinic.

The company plans to extend clinic operating hours based on beneficiary demand and to introduce mobile community outreach programmes to further raise health awareness.
