STARCARES Basketball Court Revamp at University of Lagos College of Medicine

On August 7, 2026, STARCARES – the community impact initiative of global multi‑asset broker STARTRADER – announced the completion of a comprehensive redevelopment of the basketball court located at the College of Medicine, University of Lagos, Idi‑Araba, Surulere, Lagos. The revitalised court provides a dedicated recreational space for approximately 2,000 future healthcare professionals, enabling them to recharge, connect, and engage in community activities beyond their rigorous medical training.

The renovation introduced a renewed playing surface, new basketball infrastructure, benches, jerseys, and accompanying equipment designed for regular student use. The College of Medicine, which first admitted 28 medical students in 1962, now comprises 1,850 staff members across 32 departments and continues to train doctors, dentists, and allied health professionals.

The transformation was marked by groundbreaking and turnover ceremonies, during which students immediately began using the new facility. The project was developed under the theme “Where Tomorrow STARs Begin,” reflecting STARCARES’ commitment to creating infrastructure that supports everyday community experiences.
