STARCARES Basketball Court Revamp – Detailed Briefing

On 28 August 2026, STARCARES, the community impact arm of global multi‑asset broker STARTRADER, announced the completion of the renovation of the basketball court at Communal Elementary School in the Barangay Communal area of Buhangin, Davao City, Philippines. The refurbished facility is now open for daily use and is intended to serve roughly 20,000 individuals, broken down into about 2,000 learners, 72 school staff members, 1,600 parents and approximately 16,000 local residents. According to Nelson Sepe Lubguban Jr., the principal of Communal Elementary School, the new court replaces a previously cracked and uneven surface and will host school graduations, award ceremonies, assemblies, as well as community meetings, celebrations and youth activities after school hours. Peter Karsten, Chief Executive Officer of STARTRADER, stated that the court provides a space where young people can “show up, be seen, and grow stronger together,” underscoring the initiative’s aim of creating lasting everyday value. The project follows earlier STARCARES infrastructure revitalisation efforts in Vietnam, Thailand and Nigeria and aligns with STARTRADER’s “Where Tomorrow’s STARS Begin” programme, which seeks to identify and develop practical community infrastructure in the markets where the broker operates.
