Steris $600 Million North Carolina Manufacturing Investment

Steris (NYSE: STE) disclosed on 5 August 2026 that it will invest $600 million to construct a new manufacturing and distribution campus in North Carolina. The 600,000‑square‑foot facility will be situated near the Raleigh‑Durham Research Triangle, specifically in Lee County’s city of Sanford, and will produce chemicals used for infection prevention and contamination control in the healthcare and pharmaceutical sectors.

The project will relocate Steris’s existing chemical operations currently based in St. Louis, Missouri and Plymouth, Minnesota to the new site once construction is finished. Steris expects the campus to become operational within two to three years, with distribution activities commencing prior to the start of manufacturing.

The investment is projected to generate approximately 335 jobs across manufacturing, research and development, and distribution functions. State and local economic development programs in North Carolina, Lee County and the city of Sanford are providing support for the project, which Steris selected after evaluating multiple locations for access to technical talent and specialized skills.
