StraitsMicro, a Singapore‑based deep‑tech semiconductor product development and solutions firm operating through StraitsMicro Pte. Ltd. and its newly launched Indian arm StraitsMicro Pvt. Ltd., announced a pre‑silicon demonstration of its sovereign Camera System‑on‑Chip (SoC) family, Visora, on 30 July 2026 in Bengaluru, Karnataka. The event showcased a live FPGA‑based proof‑of‑concept, supported by Bengaluru design partner Proxelera and distributor Aqtronics, and was positioned as an indigenous alternative to the Chinese SoCs now restricted by the Government of India for surveillance hardware.

Product Portfolio and Technical Highlights

Visora comprises three CCTV‑oriented SoC models and a Network SoC for NVRs. The entry‑level Visora Edge supports video up to 5 MP at 30 fps, targeting residential cameras, retail security, and cost‑sensitive small‑ and medium‑business IP‑camera applications. The mid‑range Visora Secure handles up to 8 MP at 30 fps, integrates an AI accelerator and advanced low‑light imaging, and is aimed at commercial surveillance, industrial use, smart‑city deployments, traffic monitoring, railways and metros. The high‑end Visora Pro scales to 4K resolution at up to 120 fps and can drive up to eight cameras, making it suitable for defence, border security, safe‑city projects, airports and other critical‑infrastructure installations. The Visora Network SoC extends the platform to Network Video Recorders, providing hardware‑rooted security for video processing, storage and transmission, thereby mitigating cyber‑threats and data leakage across the surveillance ecosystem.

Across the family, the architecture combines an ultra‑low‑power multicore 64‑bit CPU, hardware‑accelerated AI, low‑power DDR5 memory and H.265 video encoding for very high compression. The imaging pipeline incorporates multi‑exposure HDR, motion‑compensated 3D noise reduction, wide‑angle and fisheye distortion correction, and on‑chip lossless buffer compression that reduces memory‑bandwidth demand. Depending on the model, edge‑AI capabilities range from motion and human detection to crowd analytics, facial recognition, behaviour analytics and advanced edge inference.

Market Focus and Strategic Positioning

Visora is marketed for government, defence, smart‑city and critical‑infrastructure applications across India and global markets, addressing the gap created by the Indian government’s restriction on non‑trusted Chinese surveillance SoCs. StraitsMicro frames the product line as part of an India‑Singapore semiconductor partnership, leveraging India’s design talent and Singapore’s fabrication, manufacturing, quality and reliability engineering capabilities.

The Visora roadmap spans the three CCTV SoCs and the Network SoC, with the pre‑silicon FPGA demonstration serving as the first market touchpoint.
