Overview
ST Telemedia Global Data Centres (STT GDC) is in advanced talks with a syndicate of Singapore banks – Standard Chartered, United Overseas Bank, Oversea‑Chinese Banking Corp and DBS – to secure a syndicated loan of S$3.1 billion (approximately US$2.4 billion). The loan is structured as a three‑year facility with an interest margin of 165 basis points over the Singapore Overnight Rate Average (SORA) and provides an optional extension of up to two additional years. The proceeds are intended to finance STT GDC’s existing data‑centre assets.
Transaction Context
The financing discussion follows the September completion of STT GDC’s acquisition by a consortium led by private‑equity firm KKR and Singapore Telecommunications, which agreed to purchase the data‑centre operator for S$6.6 billion. Earlier, DBS, OCBC and UOB participated in a separate S$5 billion financing package that supported the same acquisition.
Sectoral Drivers
The loan request comes amid escalating capital needs across the data‑centre sector as technology firms expand infrastructure to support artificial‑intelligence workloads. Bloomberg‑compiled data indicate that the global AI boom has generated more than US$650 billion of debt since the start of 2025. Moody’s Investors Service projects that data‑centre‑related investments will total at least US$3 trillion over the next five years.
Company Profile
