Launch Overview
On June 16, 2026, Union Cabinet Minister for New and Renewable Energy Shri Pralhad Joshi inaugurated Suzlon Group’s S175 turbine, a 5 MW wind turbine that is the tallest and most powerful in India. The turbine was commissioned at Vijayanagar, Karnataka.
Technical Specifications
The S175 incorporates a 175‑metre rotor, a 160‑metre hybrid lattice tower and a blade‑tip height of 247.5 metres, allowing it to reach stronger wind layers. Advanced aerodynamics, carbon‑girder blade technology and intelligent control systems make the turbine FDRE‑ready and capable of seamless participation in hybrid, RTC and firm power solutions, improving generation in low‑to‑medium wind regimes.
Strategic Significance
According to Minister Joshi, the turbine’s FDRE‑ready capability will help meet India’s wind‑energy ambitions domestically and globally and expand the wind‑addressable market by making previously unviable sites viable. Girish Tanti, Executive Vice Chairman of Suzlon Group, emphasized that the product is engineered from over 30 years of operational insights drawn from Suzlon’s 15.5 GW of turbines operating in India.
Company Profile
Suzlon Group reported FY26 revenue exceeding USD 1.75 billion and a market capitalization of over USD 7.5 billion as of 1 June 2026. The group has installed approximately 21.5 GW of wind capacity worldwide, of which 15.5 GW is in India and about 6 GW abroad, across 17 countries. Headquartered at Suzlon One Earth in Pune, the listed company (NSE: SUZLON, BSE: 532667) employs more than 8,500 personnel and operates across renewable‑energy technology, asset management, development and project businesses.
