SVC Co-operative Bank Ltd., a multi‑state scheduled co‑operative bank, launched a nationwide Cyber Awareness Drive in its 120th year of operation. The bank mobilised employees from its 203‑branch network across ten states and one Union Territory to visit 213 housing societies, delivering interactive sessions that reached 19,061 residents.

The sessions covered the latest cyber‑fraud trends, including phishing, fake investment schemes, impersonation scams, OTP and UPI fraud, QR‑code scams, digital arrest frauds and fraudulent customer‑care calls. Participants were taught to verify banking communications, recognise official sender IDs, avoid sharing confidential credentials, and to report suspicious activity immediately via the National Cyber Crime Helpline (1930) or the portal cybercrime.gov.in.
Contextual Cyber‑Fraud Landscape
Government data cited in the release indicate that in the first half of 2026 more than 12.7 lakh cyber‑fraud complaints were lodged, involving suspected fraudulent transactions exceeding Rs 10,178 crore, underscoring the urgency of public awareness.
