SWITCH Mobility’s Zero‑Emission Commitment

SWITCH Mobility, a global electric‑bus and light‑commercial‑vehicle manufacturer and a member of the Hinduja Group, announced on 17 August 2026 that it will achieve carbon‑neutral operations by 2027 and net‑zero emissions across its value chain by 2040. The pledge aligns with the Government of India’s Viksit Bharat @2047 vision and the country’s broader Net‑Zero by 2070 target.

Operational Footprint and Impact

The company reports having deployed more than 2,900 electric buses and over 2,200 electric light commercial vehicles (eLCVs) on Indian roads. These Indian‑based electric buses have collectively covered 150 million green kilometres. On a global scale, SWITCH Mobility’s fleet now exceeds 5,000 electric vehicles, which have avoided the emission of over 150,000 tons of CO₂. This emissions avoidance is equated to the preservation of more than 50 lakh (5 million) trees.

Sustainability Pillars and Engagements

SWITCH’s sustainability framework rests on three pillars: carbon neutrality, water positivity and resource efficiency. The firm actively participates in international sustainability initiatives such as RE100, the Climate Group, CDP, the Science Based Targets initiative, GRI, The Climate Pledge and the Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes.

Recognitions and Awards

The company’s ESG efforts have been recognised with several accolades, including the Gold Clean Mobility Brand of the Year award at the Good Air Awards (IHW Council), the Vivekananda Sustainability Award 2023 and the Green Machine Award 2024 (Electric Vehicle Brands of the Year Awards by EMobility+). Additional honours comprise the Most Trusted Brand of India, L&ICV People Mover of the Year, Star Electric Bus of the Year, a Sustainability Award, and the Special Application of the Year Award for the EiV 22 TOURIST Hop‑on‑Hop‑off Bus at the Apollo CV Awards.
