Syngenta held its annual DevCon 2026 in Pune, Maharashtra, India, on September 2‑3, 2026, bringing together more than 500 developers, data scientists, engineers, agronomists, product champions and digital experts. The two‑day event, themed “Sharper Together,” was designed to showcase cutting‑edge innovations, share best practices and explore how artificial intelligence can transform agriculture globally.
Leadership Launch
The conference was launched virtually by Hengde Qin, Global CEO of Syngenta Group, and Feroz Sheikh, Chief Information Digital Officer. Both leaders highlighted the growing impact of digital technologies on Syngenta’s business and stressed that AI and agentic development are critical for future innovation, operation and value delivery.

Andre Piza, Global Head of Digital AgTech at Syngenta, stated that agriculture faces increasingly complex challenges and that technology plays a critical role in helping farmers navigate them. He described DevCon as more than a technology conference – it is a platform for the global engineering community to learn, collaborate and innovate, combining strong engineering practices with AI to create solutions with real‑world impact for farmers.
Pune’s Strategic Role
According to Salil Bongale, Global Head – IT & Digital, Pune Centre, more than 90% of Syngenta’s digital agriculture solutions are developed by the company’s Pune‑based technology teams, supporting farmers and agricultural stakeholders across global markets. This makes Pune one of Syngenta’s most important hubs for digital innovation. The event also highlighted that 250 developers from across India participated, forming a powerful community of problem‑solvers focused on advancing digital agriculture.

Technical showcases, peer‑learning sessions and discussions on AI‑enabled development demonstrated the growing role of engineering communities in shaping the future of agriculture.
