AI Visibility Study Overview
Taptwice Media, a Delhi‑NCR based growth and AI visibility agency founded by Shubham Kumar Agrawal, conducted an initial visibility study on 19 September 2026. The study evaluated how five leading generative AI engines—ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Google Gemini, and Bing Copilot—responded to 20 non‑branded questions covering industrial quoting, AI‑native quoting software, configure‑price‑quote (CPQ) platforms and engineer‑to‑order workflows. A total of 100 AI‑generated answers (20 questions × 5 engines) were analysed for vendor mentions, citation behaviour, case‑study usage, and the presence of criticism or caveats.
Citation Behaviour
The engines displayed stark differences in source citation volume:
- ChatGPT produced 791 citation occurrences drawn from 322 unique domains.
- Perplexity generated 598 citations across 251 domains.
- Bing Copilot yielded 97 citations from 56 domains.
- Google Gemini contributed 56 citations spanning 48 domains.
- Claude offered no source citations for any of the 20 answers and declined to name vendors in four queries, citing insufficient reliable information.
Vendor Mention Consistency
Across all five engines, three vendors achieved the highest cross‑platform consistency:
- Tacton
- Salesforce CPQ / Revenue Cloud
- Oracle CPQ
These three appeared among the most frequently named companies in every engine’s responses. Additional vendors—Epicor CPQ, SAP CPQ, and DealHub—were mentioned in four of the five engines.
Frequency by Engine
- Tacton: named in 10 of ChatGPT’s 20 answers, 9 of Perplexity’s, 8 of Gemini’s, and 6 each in Claude and Bing Copilot.
- Salesforce CPQ / Revenue Cloud: appeared particularly often in Claude, Gemini and Bing Copilot.
- Oracle CPQ: maintained relatively stable visibility across all engines.
- Paperless Parts: frequent in Perplexity but much less so elsewhere.
- DealHub: prominent in ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Bing Copilot, absent from Claude’s top‑named list.
- Claude uniquely surfaced Apptio, Coupa, Determine, and JAGGAER more often than the other engines.
Case‑Study Utilisation
All engines supplemented vendor recommendations with customer examples that included measurable outcomes:
- ChatGPT cited Yaskawa’s 87 % faster quoting with Tacton, WABTEC’s 38 % faster quotation generation through Conga CPQ, and E‑ONE’s reduction in quote creation time via Cincom CPQ.
- Perplexity referenced implementations at Mitsubishi Electric, StepStone, ROBEL and Chiron Group.
- Bing Copilot similarly relied on quantified implementation examples when discussing quoting efficiency.
These figures were primarily sourced from vendor‑produced case studies rather than independent research, a limitation explicitly acknowledged by several engines.
Source Domain Patterns
- ChatGPT leaned heavily on vendor‑controlled content; Tacton’s own website was the most cited domain, appearing 35 times.
- Perplexity’s top domain was Paperless Parts, cited 41 times, followed by DealHub, LinkedIn, Tacton and aPriori.
- Google Gemini displayed a fragmented citation pattern: its most‑frequently cited domain appeared only three times, while 43 of its 48 cited domains were used once each.
- Bing Copilot sourced mainly from third‑party statistics or aggregation sites such as WorldMetrics, ZipDo, Gitnux and WiFiTalents, rather than vendor websites.
Critical Language and Caveats
The engines differed markedly in the inclusion of criticism or cautionary language:
- Bing Copilot attached a caveat or criticism to a named company in all 20 answers.
- ChatGPT did so in 17 of 20 answers.
- Google Gemini produced nine answers with no negative framing.
Common concerns raised included implementation complexity, ERP integration challenges, reliance on rule‑based systems, AI hallucination risk, opaque pricing, expensive professional services, and difficulty converting engineering knowledge into reliable configuration rules.
Implications for Vendor Visibility
The study underscores that AI‑driven discoverability is not a single‑engine phenomenon. A vendor may enjoy strong visibility on one platform while being virtually invisible on another, even when users pose identical queries. Moreover, the presence of criticism alongside a mention can affect perceived credibility. Companies seeking robust AI visibility should therefore cultivate a broad, structured, and independently discoverable information footprint—including detailed case studies, technical documentation, and third‑party references—rather than relying solely on traditional SEO or single‑engine optimisation.
