Investment Overview

Transformers and Rectifiers (India) Limited (TARIL) announced a significant investment of Rs. 1,250 crore to establish three greenfield manufacturing plants at its Chiyada manufacturing complex in Gujarat. The investment is aimed at strengthening India's power infrastructure ecosystem and creating over 1,000 direct employment opportunities.

Manufacturing Facilities Details

The three new plants will manufacture critical transformer components:

  • Bushings: Oil Impregnated Paper (OIP), Resin Impregnated Paper (RIP) and Resin Impregnated Fibre (RIF) bushings up to 800 kV capacity
  • Pressboard & Insulation Materials
  • Continuously Transposed Conductors (CTC)

These components are described as critical elements that form the backbone of high-voltage transformer manufacturing and are essential for strengthening India's power transmission infrastructure.

Project Structure and Timeline

The three plants will be housed under a wholly owned consolidated ancillary subsidiary of TARIL, providing complete control over manufacturing quality, technology, procurement and long-term strategic direction.

Project Timeline:

  • Construction commenced: December 2025
  • Commercial operations expected: Q1 FY2027-28

Expected Financial and Operational Impact

  • Annual Revenue Potential: Approximately Rs. 2,000 crore once fully operational
  • Employment Generation: More than 1,000 direct employment opportunities across engineering, manufacturing, operations, quality assurance and research & development
  • Strategic Benefits: Reduced import dependence, strengthened supply chain resilience, improved availability of critical equipment for India's transmission and distribution network
