Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra) Limited (TTML) has issued a press release dated July 28, 2026, announcing a strategic collaboration between Tata Communications and Tata Tele Business Services (TTBS) to accelerate AI adoption among India's Small and Medium Businesses (SMB) through a unified AI platform stack.
The collaboration aims to combine the complementary strengths of both companies to unlock a large, underserved market opportunity and expand the total addressable market (TAM) for both organizations. TTBS serves as a trusted technology partner for India's SMBs, delivering business-ready digital solutions across connectivity, cloud and managed services, with an extensive physical reach through a channel partner ecosystem and a digital B2B exchange ("Do Big Cloud Hub").
Tata Communications' Voice AI platform powered by Agentic AI offers speech-to-speech customer engagement solutions with instant decision making, multilingual fluency, and sub-500 milliseconds latency performance. It enables personalized, context-aware interactions seamlessly integrated across channels.
The companies are integrating their respective platforms to deliver simpler, more accessible advanced AI solutions for businesses without the complexity, cost or technical barriers typically associated with enterprise-grade technology. They showcased an AI-powered Voice Agent that allows businesses to deploy intelligent virtual assistants with dedicated fixed-line numbers, capable of managing customer interactions, handling routine enquiries, scheduling appointments, processing orders, and providing personalized support at scale.
Specific use cases demonstrated include:
- Bus ticketing and mobility platforms using Voice AI to help customers book tickets, modify reservations, access journey information, and resolve queries
- Healthcare providers using Voice AI as a patient-facing communication tool for booking appointments, relaying test reports, and aftercare communication
The solution is powered by Commotion, Tata Communications' conversational AI platform, and hosted on Tata Communications' Vayu AI Cloud (available in India only). The underlying voice infrastructure is powered by TTBS, ensuring high-quality, secure connectivity. AI agents securely access required data through a unified network fabric integrating capabilities of both companies.
The collaboration aims to democratize access to advanced digital infrastructure for India's growth engine of more than 60 million SMBs, offering flexible consumption models from ready-to-use AI agents to full-stack infrastructure access.
