Tata Elxsi Limited has disclosed a strategic partnership with Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology (SCTIMST), Thiruvananthapuram, through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed on July 27, 2026. SCTIMST is an Institution of National Importance under the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India.

The MoU was signed at SCTIMST, Thiruvananthapuram, in the presence of senior leaders from both organizations, including Dr. Sanjay Behari (Director, SCTIMST) and Manoj Raghavan (CEO & Managing Director, Tata Elxsi), along with members of healthcare, research, and technology leadership teams from both institutions.

The collaboration combines SCTIMST's strengths in cardiovascular sciences, neurosciences, biotechnology, and clinical sciences with Tata Elxsi's expertise in product engineering, design, AI, and digital technologies. The partnership will address opportunities across diagnostics, medical imaging, digital health, biomedical engineering, medical devices, and related healthcare technologies for both Indian and global markets.

The partnership creates an extended innovation and engineering environment that brings together clinicians, specialist researchers, advanced laboratories, prototyping infrastructure, and product engineering capabilities within a single collaborative ecosystem. This will enable MedTech companies to develop, validate, and scale new products more efficiently. The collaboration also strengthens capabilities in biocompatibility and toxicology.

The MoU establishes a framework for joint research, academic engagement, technology development initiatives, and intellectual property creation through project-specific collaborations. Initial efforts will focus on identifying a select set of high-potential opportunities for collaborative development.

Sreevatsa Sahasranaman, Senior Vice President and Head of Healthcare and Life Sciences at Tata Elxsi, stated that the partnership brings together complementary strengths across healthcare, technology, and product development to address evolving healthcare needs and help bring India-led innovation to global healthcare markets.
