TATA Starbucks announced the launch of a reimagined Starbucks Rewards loyalty program that now comprises three tiers – Green, Gold and a newly introduced Reserve tier. The Green tier serves as the entry level, allowing members to earn Starbucks Rewards faster and redeem rewards of their choice. Customers upgrade to Gold by accumulating 1,000 Stars within a year of joining, while the Reserve tier is unlocked after earning 5,000+ Stars within a year, and comes with a sleek, black personalized card bearing the member’s name and the year of enrollment.

Earn Rates and Benefits

All members earn 1 Star for every Rs 10 spent. Gold members receive a 1.2× multiplier on star earnings, and Reserve members enjoy a 1.3× multiplier on the same spend base. The program introduces lower redemption thresholds, making rewards more accessible. Benefits at each level include personalized offers, birthday rewards, milestone celebrations, Double Stars Days, and member‑exclusive offers. Additional privileges as members progress are:

  • Free Customized Mondays – one free modifier on any handcrafted drink for every member.
  • Accelerated star earnings for higher tiers.
  • Access to exclusive merchandise, curated coffee experiences, special event access, and other member‑only privileges.

Adrit Mishra, COO of TATA Starbucks, stated that the redesign reflects the company’s commitment to delivering greater value by simplifying earning and redemption while adding new, meaningful experiences for loyal customers.

Operational Footprint

Starbucks entered India in October 2012 through a 50/50 joint venture with Tata Consumer Products Limited. The joint venture now operates more than 506 stores across 81 cities—including major metros and tier‑2 locations such as Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Pune, and many others—supported by over 4,305 partners (employees). The updated rewards program is available through the Starbucks India mobile application.
