Strategic Initiative Overview

Tata Technologies announced the launch of the 4th edition of its flagship engineering innovation hackathon, InnoVent-27, in collaboration with Emerson's Test & Measurement business and Amazon Web Services (AWS). The initiative provides engineering students across India with a platform to tackle real-world industrial challenges using advanced computing where data is generated.

Theme and Focus Areas

The hackathon's theme is 'AI at the Edge' with the tagline 'AI solution for Automotive, Industrial Heavy Machinery, and Aerospace.' Participants are challenged to conceptualize and build AI-at-the-edge solutions that enhance performance, safety, sustainability, and autonomy across these three sectors. Specific application areas include:

  • ADAS and autonomous systems
  • Predictive maintenance
  • Smart manufacturing and digital twins
  • Intelligent inspection
  • Secure connected ecosystems
  • Energy-efficient, next-generation mobility solutions

Participation Criteria and Inclusivity

The competition is open to 3rd and 4th year engineering students across India. The hackathon actively encourages entries from teams with women innovators and differently abled members, reinforcing Tata Technologies' commitment to diversity and inclusion.

Evaluation Process and Prizes

The evaluation process consists of three distinct stages:

1. Initial concept screening

2. Virtual Proof of Concept (PoC) presentations

3. Final prototype live demonstrations

Projects will be assessed based on novelty, feasibility, diversity, and potential real-world impact, with particular emphasis on functional prototypes.

Top-performing teams will receive:

  • Cumulative cash prizes worth INR 4.5 lakhs
  • Job opportunities at Tata Technologies
  • AWS Kits and cloud computing services
  • NI test & measurement tools from Emerson
  • Mentorship from industry experts
  • Participation certificates for all teams reaching the POC stage
  • Sponsor recognitions including Breakthrough Idea Award and Best Prototype Award

Technical Support and Mentorship

Tata Technologies' Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) will provide intensive technical mentorship to support the scaling of student innovations. AWS will provide cloud support and technical guidance, while Emerson will offer software-defined test and measurement solutions built on NI technologies.
