The Technology Development Board (TDB), Department of Science & Technology (DST), Government of India has extended support to M/s Greenjoules Private Limited, Pune
Support is for the project titled "Manufacturing of 2nd Generation Diesel Equivalent Biofuel"
The project aims to establish a commercial-scale facility for production of advanced biofuels derived from agricultural waste and agro-processing residues
The facility will produce Abhilasha Biofuels (ABF) - a next-generation renewable diesel and naphtha alternative
ABF is a "drop-in" fuel that can directly replace conventional fossil-based diesel without requiring modifications to existing engines, fuel systems, or distribution infrastructure
The technology integrates thermo-chemical conversion processes including thermal cracking, catalytic upgrading, and downstream refining technologies
The fuel has been successfully produced from nearly forty different feedstocks
The project will enhance capabilities in producing renewable diesel, renewable naphtha, biochar, and gaseous fuels
The initiative aligns with Government of India's National Biofuel Policy and circular economy objectives
The technology addresses reduction of stubble burning, promotion of clean energy, strengthening of rural value chains, and lowering dependence on imported fossil fuels
