Announcement
On July 9, 2026, The Leela Palaces, Hotels and Resorts, the only pure‑play luxury hospitality brand in India, announced the unveiling of The Leela Coorg Forest Sanctuary, the new identity for its recently acquired retreat in Coorg, Karnataka. The property is set amidst 76 acres of ancient Western Ghats forest, coffee plantations and rich biodiversity, and the rebranding aligns with the brand’s four‑decade vision of “True Indian Luxury”.
Property Highlights
The IGBC Platinum‑certified resort comprises 71 spacious villas—including duplex, family and private‑pool configurations—and a signature four‑bedroom Sunbeam Presidential Villa that overlooks the surrounding forest. Guest experiences are centred on nature, with guided forest walks, plantation trails, bird‑watching, waterfall explorations, cycling routes and stargazing opportunities.
Dining and Leisure
Dining options feature Luma, a lake‑front all‑day restaurant focused on seasonal ingredients; Zen, offering refined Pan‑Asian cuisine; The Cellar; and 92 Degrees, which showcases Coorg’s coffee heritage. The “Estate to Brew” journey combines estate walks, curated tastings and storytelling about the region’s centuries‑old coffee culture.
Wellness and Amenities
Wellness is delivered through Aujasya by The Leela, housed in a 27,000‑square‑foot centre with outdoor treatment spaces and a Vinyasa Yoga Deck overlooking a seven‑acre lake. Personalized therapies, yoga, mindfulness and nature‑inspired rituals are available. A private helipad provides seamless access for guests arriving from across the country.
Corporate Context
The launch coincides with The Leela operating 24 hotels and resorts, with additional properties in the pipeline across key gateway cities and marquee leisure destinations. The brand is backed by the Brookfield Group and currently manages 15 award‑winning hotels and resorts. In the Travel + Leisure World’s Best Awards 2026, The Leela was ranked the #2 hotel brand globally, following #1 rankings in 2020 and 2021 and Top‑3 placements in 2023 and 2024.
Executive Comment
Chief Executive Officer Anuraag Bhatnagar stated that the unveiling “represents an important milestone in our journey of creating destinations that are deeply rooted in their surroundings” and underscores the belief that “the most memorable luxury experiences celebrate the unique character of a destination rather than simply existing within it.”
