TPG’s Potential Acquisition of Netrality Data Centers

TPG Inc. is engaged in exclusive discussions to purchase Netrality Data Centers from Macquarie Group Ltd., with the transaction valuing Netrality at a range of $2 billion to $3 billion. The parties anticipate that the deal could be finalized as early as this fall, although a definitive agreement has not been secured and remains subject to completion risk. Following the announcement, TPG’s share price increased by 0.9% in Monday trading.

Netrality operates 18 interconnection data centre properties across North America, encompassing approximately 3.3 million square feet of space and delivering over 100 megawatts of capacity. The company’s service portfolio includes colocation, powered‑shell, and wholesale data‑centre solutions, as well as dedicated Meet‑Me‑Rooms. Backed by Macquarie Asset Management, Netrality describes itself as the largest privately held owner‑operator of core interconnection facilities in the United States, emphasizing a strategy of acquiring strategically located sites that serve latency‑sensitive businesses.

The acquisition, if completed, would expand TPG’s footprint in the data‑centre and interconnection market, aligning with its broader private‑equity focus on technology‑infrastructure assets.
