Trentar‑Maharashtra MoU for Green Integrated Data Center
On 6 October 2026, Trentar Private Limited, the technology and infrastructure arm of the Dorf Ketal Group, entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Government of Maharashtra during the Invest Maharashtra initiative. The MoU, formally handed over by Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Devendra Fadnavis, outlines a proposed investment of ₹30,000 crore (approximately US$3.3 billion) to develop a 500 MW Green Integrated Hyperscale Data Center park in the state.
The state government has committed to facilitate all applicable permissions, registrations, approvals, clearances and incentives in line with prevailing policies and regulations, and has issued a Letter of Intent confirming the support framework.
Project Design and Sustainability Targets
The data centre campus is being designed to source at least 51 % of its electricity from renewable energy. Trentar will integrate in‑house energy storage systems and evaluate treated‑water reuse and water‑efficient cooling technologies; final technology choices will be determined through detailed design and feasibility studies.
Strategic Rationale
Trentar’s founder and Vice Chairman Mr Subodh Menon stated that Maharashtra provides a strong foundation for India’s digital economy and that the project will deliver a modular, rapidly deployable, and scalable infrastructure platform. The facility aims to meet India’s growing demand for big‑data analytics, large‑scale data processing, high‑performance computing (HPC), artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML), thereby enhancing the country’s digital sovereignty and resilience.
Corporate Background
Trentar was founded in 2021 by the visionaries behind Dorf Ketal Chemicals, a global specialty‑chemicals business established in 1992 that serves refining, petrochemical, oil & gas, and other industrial sectors across more than 16 manufacturing sites worldwide. The group’s expertise in process engineering, utilities, thermal management, water treatment, energy efficiency and continuous operations underpins the data‑center project.
Expected Impact
The ₹30,000 crore investment represents a significant entry for the Dorf Ketal Group into large‑scale digital infrastructure, positioning the data centre as a cornerstone of Trentar’s digital infrastructure platform and contributing to a sustainable, cost‑efficient backbone for AI, cloud, HPC and data‑intensive applications in India.
