Event Overview

The Embassy of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago in India celebrated the nation’s 50th Republic Day in New Delhi. The ceremony brought together the Additional Secretary of the Ministry of External Affairs, members of the diplomatic corps, ambassadors, representatives of GRULAC, entrepreneurs, business leaders and other distinguished guests.

Book Unveiling

During the event, High Commissioner H.E. Chandradath Singh unveiled The New Me 2.0, the latest book by Indian entrepreneur Mr. Gagan Dhawan. The book combines contemporary approaches to personal transformation and well‑being with insights from traditional Indian knowledge such as Sattvic eating, Yoga, Pranayama and Dincharya. Dhawan recounted his own experience of adopting a disciplined routine and a vegan lifestyle for about 90–100 days, describing it as a turning point that led to sustainable vitality and mental clarity.

Bilateral Cooperation

High Commissioner Singh highlighted that six Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) have been signed between India and Trinidad and Tobago, providing an institutional foundation for enhanced cooperation. He emphasized India’s continued economic growth and expanding business ecosystem, noting emerging opportunities in second‑ and third‑tier Indian cities. Singh urged Trinidad and Tobago to encourage greater engagement with Indian businesses beyond major metropolitan centres and to explore joint‑venture opportunities with Indian manufacturers.

UN Security Council Seat

Singh also announced that Trinidad and Tobago has been elected to a non‑permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council for the 2027–2028 term, under the leadership of Prime Minister Kamla Persad‑Bissessar. He stated that this achievement reflects the country’s commitment to multilateralism and constructive international engagement.

Remarks on Economic Growth

The High Commissioner reiterated the progress achieved in bilateral relations under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership and highlighted India’s expanding business ecosystem as a platform for deeper economic collaboration between the two nations.
