TripGain Releases ‘State of Business Travel in India 2026’ Report
On July 30, 2026, TripGain announced the publication of its ‘State of Business Travel in India 2026’ report, based on responses from more than 200 professionals representing HR, Finance, IT, executive leadership and frequent business travelers. The study highlights a pronounced disconnect between technology adoption and operational efficiency within corporate travel programs.
The report finds that 58 % of organizations that have automated travel systems still require more than one week to reimburse employees, indicating that digitising individual processes does not automatically translate into faster reimbursements. Conversely, 64 % of firms using automated booking platforms are over four times more likely to approve premium travel options, suggesting that integrated policy, approval and spend workflows deliver greater strategic value than automation alone.
A stark divergence emerges between budget‑managing functions and travelers: every HR and Finance controller surveyed identified broader travel inventory as a strategic priority, yet only one in five business travelers share this view, reflecting a shift toward treating inventory as a financial control mechanism rather than a traveler benefit.
Sudheer Reddy, Founder of TripGain, remarks that the surprise lies not in lingering manual processes but in the differing definitions of success across functions—finance seeks visibility, HR seeks coordination, IT seeks governance, and travelers seek experience—resulting in a fragmented travel landscape. Ranga Prasad, Co‑founder, adds that the industry’s next challenge is digital cohesion; organizations with stronger digital governance exhibit higher confidence in making high‑value travel decisions, reframing automation from a pure efficiency tool to a strategic enabler.
The report analyses multiple dimensions of corporate travel, including booking, policy enforcement, approvals, expense management, reimbursements, payment adoption, technology maturity and stakeholder perspectives, providing a benchmark for companies to evaluate their own travel programs.
