UBS Downgrades HubSpot to Neutral and Raises Price Target
UBS has downgraded HubSpot Inc (ticker HUBS) from a Buy to Neutral rating in a new research note authored by analyst Taylor McGinnis. While the rating was cut, UBS simultaneously increased its price target to $310, up from the previous $290, reflecting a re‑rating across the peer group.
The downgrade is driven by a more mixed near‑term outlook. Channel checks indicate uneven demand from small‑business and new‑customer segments, nascent AI monetisation, intensifying competition from down‑market AI‑native rivals, and potential go‑to‑market friction arising from HubSpot’s recent shift to consumption‑based pricing. Partners highlighted that the pricing transition could pressure average selling prices in the near term, though it may create additional usage‑based monetisation avenues over time. They also flagged potential execution risk for new‑technology (NT) initiatives, citing elongating sales cycles and added complexity.
UBS trimmed its fiscal‑2027 revenue growth forecast to 13% (constant‑currency) from 14.5%, placing it below the Street’s consensus of roughly 14%. The bank sees limited downside to the FY2026 guidance but anticipates less upside potential.
AI adoption remains early, with only 5% to 10% of HubSpot’s customers purchasing additional AI credits. UBS noted that large‑language‑model and AI‑native competitors are becoming increasingly competitive down‑market, though HubSpot’s status as a system‑of‑record appears durable. The analyst concluded that long‑term AI monetisation potential exists, but HubSpot must demonstrate that its embedded AI delivers differentiation versus rivals.
Despite the rating change, HubSpot’s shares have risen over 30% in the past month and are currently trading at approximately 12x CY27 EV/FCF, roughly in line with peer valuations.
