Partnership Overview

Unlimit Mobile, the global eSIM connectivity brand owned by India‑based travel ancillary firm Zetexa Global, has entered a referral partnership with ICICI Bank Canada and RBC Royal Bank. The collaboration targets Indian students applying for study permits in Canada, bundling Unlimit Mobile connectivity credits with the mandatory Student Guaranteed Investment Certificate (GIC) required by Canadian immigration authorities.

Student GIC Process

Students register through Unlimit Mobile’s referral link, which redirects them to ICICI Bank Canada’s Student Partners Program (SPP) online portal. During the application they indicate referral status and provide tracking codes, enabling the referral award to be traced. After submitting required documents, ICICI Bank Canada instantly supplies an account number and remittance instructions. Most provinces require a CAD 23,120 remittance, though the bank can fund up to CAD 50,000. Payments may be made from the student’s or a parent/spouse’s Indian bank account, split into a maximum of two transactions. Funds typically reflect in the ICICI Bank Canada account within 2‑4 days, after which the GIC certificate is issued the following day. Mandatory KYC accepts Aadhar card, PAN card, driving licence, voter ID, birth certificate, and recent utility bills or bank statements (not older than two months) issued in the student’s name with matching address/DOB.

Post‑Arrival Banking and Credit Benefits

Upon arrival in Canada, the student activates the ICICI account online via the SPP app/website using the account number, passport number, and date of birth provided earlier. The student then opens an RBC Royal Bank account using the referral document supplied in the earlier stages. All GIC installments are transferred directly to the RBC account, either as a single tranche or in installments based on the ICICI GIC setup. RBC provides a student credit card with a CAD 2,000 limit, no prior Canadian credit history required, no annual fee, 2% cashback on groceries and 1% on other eligible transactions, and access to a nationwide network of over 1,200 branches and 4,200 ATMs.

Connectivity Incentive

When the student opens, funds, and verifies the GIC account, Unlimit Mobile credits worth CAD 120 are deposited into the Unlimit Mobile wallet. These credits are non‑redeemable for cash and can be applied only against Unlimit Mobile phone bills, covering up to 50% of the monthly bill. For example, with a CAD 40 monthly bill, CAD 30 of the credit balance is applied (capped at 50% of the bill), the remaining CAD 20 is paid by cash or card, leaving CAD 10 of credits for future use.

Eligibility and Additional Services

The referral benefit is available to applicants from India, China, the Philippines, Vietnam, Morocco, Senegal, and Nepal. Indian students constitute one of the top source countries for Canada’s GIC program. ICICI Bank Canada also offers a digital refund service via the SPP portal if a visa application is rejected after the GIC has been funded. After 12 months, the ICICI Bank Canada account remains a no‑fee remittance account for ongoing India‑Canada transfers, as listed on Unlimit Mobile’s partners page.

Executive Comments

"While the GIC and visa application are only the first milestone for most students from India, maintaining connectivity and secure banking facilities upon arrival are a primary concern for them. By integrating Unlimit Mobile into the onboarding and banking processes with ICICI Bank Canada and RBC Royal Bank, we are assisting students even before they complete the formalities of leaving India," said Amit Agarwal, Founder & CEO, Zetexa Global. "This partnership is a natural extension of our approach to travel ancillary services, where banking, connectivity and on‑ground support should not be independent decisions. We are excited to be part of the ICICI Bank Canada and RBC ecosystem for outbound students," added Srujan Yeleti, Founder & COO, Zetexa Global.
