Overview

The press release announces the launch of the University of Western Australia (UWA) Global MBA programme, delivered in partnership with the Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode (IIMK). It positions the programme as a response to a rapidly evolving global labour market where 52% of professionals are actively seeking new roles and nearly 80% feel unprepared to secure employment because of skills gaps, according to a LinkedIn Research report for 2026.

Programme Structure

In the first year, participants complete six foundational modules designed and taught by IIM Kozhikode, focusing on strategy, management, and decision‑making to build enterprise‑level thinking. The second year consists of six advanced modules delivered by UWA, aimed at sharpening a global business perspective, cross‑market decision‑making, and leadership readiness for international environments.

Rankings, Accreditation and Reach

UWA is ranked #1 in Western Australia and 77th globally in the QS World University Rankings 2026. The business school holds EQUIS and AACSB accreditations. To date, the programme has run 13 cohorts and attracted more than 1,800 learners worldwide, indicating sustained demand across industries and regions.

AI‑Focused Curriculum

The curriculum incorporates dedicated AI masterclasses led by industry experts. Topics include:

  • AI in organisational behaviour, covering feedback loops and emotional‑intelligence bots;
  • Building and testing Minimum Viable Products using Generative AI, with a rapid 60‑minute idea‑to‑market cycle;
  • AI‑agent driven financial statement analysis. These sessions aim to equip managers with the ability to leverage emerging technologies in strategic decision‑making and business model innovation.

Market Implications

The release notes that Indian businesses are expanding globally and multinational firms are deepening their presence in India, creating a need for professionals who can operate across markets, functions, and cultures. The programme is presented as a vehicle to develop such cross‑functional, cross‑geographic capabilities rather than preparing for a single predefined role.
