The Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment showcased the success of Palnadu Solar Power Pvt. Ltd., a renewable energy enterprise established by Ms. Sujatha Seelam in Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, as an example of the transformative impact of the Venture Capital Fund for Scheduled Castes (VCF-SC).
In 2015, the VCF-SC extended financial assistance of ₹15 crore through Venture Capital (Equity with Optionally Convertible Debentures) to enable the establishment and commissioning of a 5.5 MW grid-connected solar power plant. The project was designed to generate clean and sustainable electricity to meet the growing power requirements of the region while contributing to India's renewable energy goals.
The solar power plant has generated direct and indirect employment opportunities for local communities and established strong market linkages with clients. The project contributes to sustainable rural development through reliable renewable energy generation and supports rural power requirements while creating livelihood opportunities at the village level.
Ms. Sujatha Seelam stated that the timely and concessional financial support under VCF-SC enabled the company to set up the 5.5 MW solar plant at Vijayawada. The success demonstrates how targeted financial assistance under VCF-SC is empowering Scheduled Caste entrepreneurs to invest in renewable energy and sustainable infrastructure, promoting entrepreneurship, generating employment, strengthening rural economies, and contributing to India's vision of a cleaner, greener future.
