Manufacturing Capacity Expansion
Vector Technics Private Limited, a subsidiary of Zen Technologies Limited, has expanded its manufacturing capacity to 300,000 propulsion units annually at its Shamshabad facility in Hyderabad. The 26,000-sq-ft integrated facility now represents India's largest fully integrated drone propulsion manufacturing capability.
Complete Indigenous Propulsion Stack
The company has achieved full vertical integration across both electric and internal-combustion propulsion systems, making it the only Indian company that designs and manufactures every component in-house:
Electric Propulsion Components:
- BLDC motors spanning FPV-class, tactical, heavy-lift cargo, fixed-wing long-range, and VTOL platforms
- Aerospace-grade motors tested to MIL-STD-810G standards
- Speed controllers with domestically developed firmware on trusted silicon
- Carbon-fibre-reinforced polymer propellers aerodynamically tuned for industrial and defense conditions
- Power electronics including distribution boards with onboard current sensing, voltage regulation, and DC-DC converters
Internal Combustion Components:
- IC engines: 60cc, 170cc, and 210cc boxer engines for hybrid-VTOL and fixed-wing UAVs
- Starter-generators built on Vector's BLDC core for onboard power generation
- India's only production-ready indigenous UAV engine line
Strategic Significance
The expansion addresses India's strategic dependency on imported propulsion components, where previously 80% of motors and controllers traced back to Chinese-origin channels. The company emphasizes:
- No Chinese parts or imported firmware in their products
- Complete supply chain control from raw materials to finished products
- Three NABL-accredited thrust benchmarks for quality validation before shipment
- Compliance with India's IDDM (Indigenously Designed, Developed and Manufactured) framework for defense procurement
Business Operations
Vector Technics serves more than 300 clients across 10+ countries in defense, surveillance, agriculture, and logistics sectors. The company was founded in 2019 and operates from Hyderabad with Zen Technologies as a strategic investor.
Management Commentary
Prudhvi Raj Pakalapati, Co-Founder and CEO of Vector Technics, stated: "A drone is only as indigenous as what drives it. For years, India built sophisticated platforms on propulsion; it didn't control borrowed motors, borrowed firmware, a supply chain that could be cut. We spent seven years changing that, one component at a time: winding our own motors, writing our own firmware, machining our own engines. The IP lives in Hyderabad in this facility, in the engineers who chose to solve the problem here instead of importing the answer."
Quality Assurance
All propulsion units undergo validation against three NABL-accredited thrust benchmarks before shipment, ensuring reliability for battlefield conditions and critical defense applications.
