Vedanta Aluminium Metal Limited launched two advanced automotive offerings under its Primary Foundry Alloy (PFA) range at the AutoEdge 2026 conclave in New Delhi on August 20, 2026.

The two new products are:

  • Copper-Doped Alloy: Developed for high-performance automotive applications, enhancing durability, wear resistance, and performance at higher operating temperatures. Suitable for critical engine, transmission, and powertrain components.
  • Vedanta Foundry Alloy (VFA): A versatile material for enhanced durability, developed in collaboration with IIT Delhi. Combines lightweighting with higher strength, improved corrosion resistance, and enhanced casting performance for conventional and electric vehicle applications.

Capacity and Production Details

  • Company is India's largest PFA producer with existing capacity of 380 kilo tonnes per annum (KTPA)
  • Poised to become world's largest primary billet producer with capacity of 1.25 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) upon completion of ongoing capacity expansion at BALCO plant in Korba, Chhattisgarh
  • Expanding share of value-added products in portfolio to 90%

  • Entire product range certified by Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) - first in India to achieve this
  • Smelters at Jharsuguda, Odisha and Korba, Chhattisgarh (BALCO) certified by Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI)'s Performance Standards
  • Customer base spans over 60 countries including USA, Japan, Italy, France, and Germany
