Production Highlights
Vedanta Aluminium Metal Limited announced its production numbers for the second quarter ended September 30, 2026, showing record performance across key metrics.
Quarterly Production (Q2 FY27 vs Q2 FY26)
- Aluminium Production: 649,000 tonnes (up 5% from 617,000 tonnes)
- Jharsuguda: 470,000 tonnes (up 1% from 467,000 tonnes)
- BALCO: 178,000 tonnes (up 19% from 150,000 tonnes), including trial production from new smelter at 27 KT
- Alumina Production: 895,000 tonnes (up 37% from 653,000 tonnes)
- Value-Added Production: 432,000 tonnes (up 31% from 329,000 tonnes)
- Power Sales (BALCO): 491 Million Units (up 58% from 310 Million Units)
Half-Yearly Production (1H FY27 vs 1H FY26)
- Aluminium Production: 1,281,000 tonnes (up 5% from 1,222,000 tonnes)
- Jharsuguda: 934,000 tonnes (up 1% from 927,000 tonnes)
- BALCO: 347,000 tonnes (up 18% from 295,000 tonnes), including trial production from new smelter at 51 KT
- Alumina Production: 1,721,000 tonnes (up 39% from 1,240,000 tonnes)
- Value-Added Production: 821,000 tonnes (up 22% from 672,000 tonnes)
- Power Sales (BALCO): 1,011 Million Units (up 36% from 741 Million Units)
Operational Achievements
- Achieved highest-ever Quarterly and Half-Yearly Aluminium production
- BALCO successfully commissioned the second zone of its pioneering 525 kA smelter potline, the first of its kind in the world (ex-China)
- Operational capacity reached 50% of the planned 435 KTPA expansion
- Record Quarterly and Half-Yearly Alumina production reflecting ramp-up and stabilization of the expansion circuit
- Enhanced Value-Added production capabilities in response to accelerating Asian Automotive segment and growing Domestic Downstream demand
- Obtained Consent to Operate (CTO) for the Sijimali Bauxite Block
