Chief Minister’s Announcement

The chief guest, Hon’ble Chief Minister of West Bengal Shri Suvendu Adhikari, praised Vidya Bharati’s contribution to value‑based education and announced a target to increase the number of Vidya Bharati Vidya Mandir schools to 1,000 across the state within the next year. He emphasized the need for quality infrastructure up to Class 12 in every town, panchayat, sub‑division, and district headquarters, and called for the sanctioning of additional Sainik Schools and the introduction of NCC in every school and college. The CM also noted the adoption of the National Education Policy, the mandatory singing of Vande Mataram during school prayers, and the delegation of mid‑day meal responsibilities in Kolkata to ISKCON for pure, sattvic meals.

Academic Performance Highlights

National Committee Member Ravindra Chamaria reported that out of 960,000 students who appeared for the Madhyamik examinations in West Bengal in 2026, 1,225 were enrolled in Vidya Bharati schools. The organization secured 13 of the 131 state rank‑holders, representing 10 % of all top‑ranking students, and recorded a 0 % failure rate among its candidates. He highlighted that the first‑rank student hailed from a school in Raiganj, Uttar Dinajpur, while the second‑rank student came from a school in Paikpara, Birbhum.

Teacher Strength and Project Progress

Chamaria also noted that the number of teachers in Vidya Bharati’s West Bengal network grew from approximately 3,310 in 2016 to 4,720 at present. Between 2016 and 2026, 178 projects were completed successfully, and 15 additional projects are currently underway, aiming to establish Vidya Mandir schools in every urban centre and administrative block of the state.

Alumni Network Expansion

The organization has created a global alumni platform that now registers 1,084,000 former students spread across 93 nations, making it one of the largest alumni portals worldwide.

Organizational Scale Nationwide

Vidya Bharati Akhil Bhartiya Shiksha Sansthan, founded in 1952, has expanded to a network of 12,068 schools nationwide, educating over 33.33 lakh (3.333 million) students. More than 85 % of its secondary schools boast a 100 % pass record, with the majority of students achieving first‑division results. Extracurricular activities such as sports, music, dance, debates, and science exhibitions are integral to the curriculum, earning numerous state and national accolades.

West Bengal Footprint

Within West Bengal, the Vidya Bharati Vivekanand Vidya Vikas Parishad operates 313 schools, providing value‑based education to approximately 1.20 lakh (120,000) students.
