IBC @ Crossroads: A Decade of Evolution, The Road Ahead – Conclave Overview

On 8 August 2026, the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC) turned ten years old, and a dedicated conclave titled “IBC @ Crossroads: A Decade of Evolution, The Road Ahead” was convened at The Park, Kolkata. The event was organised under the Views Exchange series GYAN GANGA by Views Exchange and the Insolvency Professional Agency of the Institute of Cost Accountants of India (IPA‑ICMAI), with the support of the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India (IBBI).

Leadership and Participation

The conclave was steered by CA (IP) Nitin Daga, Chairperson of the IBC Committee at Views Exchange; CA IP Binay Kumar Singhania, President of Views Exchange; Mr. Vinay Kumar Sanduja, Managing Director of IPA‑ICMAI; and CA IP Kamal Nayan Jain, Director of IPA‑ICMAI. More than 150 delegates from across the country attended, representing insolvency professionals, the judiciary, regulators, bankers, legal practitioners, industry representatives and other stakeholders.

The ceremony was honoured by Shri Ravi Mital, Chairperson of IBBI, who served as the Chief Guest, and Shri Niraj Kumar Panda, Deputy Managing Director of the Stressed Assets Resolution Group (SARG) at State Bank of India (SBI), who acted as the Guest of Honour. A notable judicial perspective was provided by Smt. Bidisha Banerjee, Hon’ble Member (Judicial) and Head of Department, NCLT Kolkata, in a fireside chat titled “Insights from the Bench: A Fireside Chat.”

Highlights and Outcomes

A central highlight was the direct interaction between insolvency professionals and Shri Ravi Mital, allowing participants to obtain regulatory perspectives on evolving insolvency practices. Shri Niraj Kumar Panda contributed a banking and institutional viewpoint, underscoring SBI’s pivotal role in credit, stressed assets and resolution.

The deliberations stressed the importance of continuous regulatory and institutional strengthening, technological innovation (including AI for asset tracing), stakeholder coordination, efficient resolution mechanisms and value maximisation for the next phase of the IBC journey.

Organisers’ Profile

Views Exchange, founded in 1992, has grown into a community of over 700 professional members and conducts two physical seminars each month. It has also established a Fund for Professional Education for students pursuing professional courses, seeded with an initial contribution of ₹1 million by its President, supported by the Singhania Foundation.

IPA‑ICMAI supports the development of the insolvency profession, promoting professional standards, knowledge and capacity building among insolvency professionals.
