Overview

India’s electric‑car market is moving beyond early adopters, prompting automakers to strengthen dealer networks that can sell, service and educate customers about EV technology. A recent press release highlights the rapid growth in EV registrations, a dealer‑satisfaction ranking that favours VinFast, and the company’s aggressive dealership expansion plan.

Market Growth

According to Vahan data, electric passenger‑vehicle registrations increased 50 % year‑on‑year in August, reaching 30,325 units and raising overall EV penetration to 7.4 % of new passenger‑vehicle sales.

Dealer Satisfaction Findings

The Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA) released its 2025 Dealer Satisfaction Study, which surveyed more than 1,800 dealer principals representing nearly 5,000 outlets. The study identified after‑sales service as the most important factor for dealer satisfaction, followed by business viability and policy considerations. VinFast emerged as the No. 1 electric passenger‑vehicle OEM in dealer satisfaction, reflecting strong perceived support from the automaker to its retail partners.

VinFast’s Network Expansion

VinFast recently inaugurated its 60th dealership in Patna, a 3‑S (sales, service, support) facility. The company has announced a target of 75 dealerships across more than 60 cities by the end of 2026, with a focus on tier‑2 and tier‑3 markets. This expansion aims to bring sales, after‑sales service and customer support under one roof, thereby enhancing the ownership experience for EV buyers outside India’s largest metros.

Financing Arrangements

To underpin the rapid rollout of new outlets, VinFast has signed inventory‑financing agreements with several Indian banks. These arrangements are intended to provide dealers with the capital required to stock an expanding range of EVs, addressing one of the key concerns identified in the FADA study—inventory and margin pressures.

Implications

The combination of strong dealer‑satisfaction scores, a fast‑growing dealership footprint and bank‑backed inventory financing suggests that VinFast is positioning itself to capture a larger share of India’s emerging EV market, particularly in smaller cities where service accessibility is a critical factor for consumer confidence.
