VinFast VF 6 Targets Indian Family Market with Connected EV Features

VinFast (NASDAQ: VFS), a subsidiary of Vietnam’s Vingroup JSC, announced the India‑specification of its VF 6 electric SUV, positioning it as a “Family 4.0” vehicle that integrates digital lifestyle conveniences with everyday mobility. The cabin centers on a 12.9‑inch driver‑oriented infotainment screen, supporting wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, while the VinFast smartphone app enables owners to remotely operate doors, boot, windows, climate control, and special modes such as Pet, Camp, Wash and Valet. Over‑the‑air (OTA) software updates allow the vehicle’s functions to be refreshed without workshop visits.

Safety and driver‑assist technology are emphasized, with the VF 6 offering up to 14 Advanced Driver‑Assistance System (ADAS) features, seven airbags, and a 360‑degree surround‑view monitoring system. Higher‑trim variants add adaptive cruise control, lane‑centering, automatic emergency braking, blind‑spot detection, and rear cross‑traffic alert.

Powertrain specifications include a 59.6 kWh usable battery delivering up to 468 km of MIDC range, depending on the variant. The higher‑output model produces up to 150 kW (204 PS) and 310 Nm of torque. DC fast charging can raise the state of charge from 10 % to 70 % in approximately 25 minutes under specified conditions.

VinFast’s web‑based Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) tool estimates that the VF 6 Wind variant can generate total savings of INR 4.4 lakh over three years compared with a conventional internal‑combustion‑engine (ICE) vehicle, assuming 1,500 km of monthly driving. This represents a 19 % reduction in total cost of ownership, with an estimated monthly energy expense of INR 1,544 versus INR 9,281 for the ICE benchmark.

To support the transition to electric mobility, VinFast offers free charging at V‑Green stations until 31 March 2029, free maintenance for up to three years or 36,000 km (whichever occurs first), and cash incentives of up to INR 154,000 under its ICE‑to‑EV programme, subject to variant and eligibility criteria. The vehicle is backed by a 7‑year/160,000‑km warranty on the car and a 10‑year/200,000‑km warranty on the battery, providing long‑term predictability for owners.

VinFast’s broader portfolio includes electric SUVs, e‑scooters, and e‑buses, and the company is expanding its global distribution and manufacturing footprint across North America, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia.
