Overview

VinFast, a subsidiary of Vietnam’s Vingroup JSC, introduced the India‑spec VF 6 electric SUV, positioning it as a “Family 4.0” vehicle that integrates seamlessly with digitally connected households. The model is marketed with a suite of smart, connected features designed to complement the everyday routines of families accustomed to smartphones, apps, and remote device control.

Smart and Connected Features

At the centre of the cabin sits a 12.9‑inch driver‑oriented infotainment screen that provides access to vehicle functions and entertainment. Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are supported, while dedicated modes such as Pet, Camp, Wash and Valet address specific ownership scenarios. Through the VinFast smartphone app, owners can remotely operate doors, boot, windows, climate control, and special modes, check vehicle status and location, and receive event notifications, eliminating the need to be inside the car for many adjustments. The vehicle also receives over‑the‑air software updates, allowing compatible functions to be refreshed without a workshop visit.

Safety and Driver‑Assist

Depending on the variant, the VF 6 offers up to 14 advanced driver‑assist (ADAS) features, seven airbags, and a 360‑degree surround‑view monitoring system. Higher‑spec variants add adaptive cruise control, lane‑centering, automatic emergency braking, blind‑spot detection, and rear cross‑traffic alert, enhancing safety for family journeys.

Powertrain and Performance

The VF 6 is equipped with a 59.6 kWh usable battery that provides a Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MIDC) certified range of up to 468 km, varying by variant. The higher‑output version produces up to 150 kW (204 PS) and 310 Nm of torque. DC fast‑charging can raise the state of charge from 10 % to 70 % in approximately 25 minutes under specified conditions.

Cost of Ownership

VinFast’s web‑based Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) calculator indicates that the VF 6 Wind variant can deliver total savings of INR 4.4 lakh over three years compared with a conventional internal‑combustion‑engine (ICE) vehicle, assuming a monthly driving distance of 1,500 km. This represents a 19 % reduction in total cost of ownership. The estimated monthly energy expense for the VF 6 is INR 1,544, contrasted with INR 9,281 for the ICE benchmark.

Ownership Incentives

To ease the transition to electric mobility, VinFast offers several ownership incentives: free charging at V‑Green stations is available through 31 March 2029; a free maintenance package covers the first three years or 36,000 km, whichever occurs first; an ICE‑to‑EV programme provides up to INR 154,000 in cash support depending on variant and eligibility; the vehicle is backed by a warranty of up to seven years or 160,000 km, and the battery is covered for up to ten years or 200,000 km.
