VNT Launches First Indian Bidirectional DC-DC Converter
On 22 October 2026, in Greater Noida, VNT unveiled its next‑generation MMC‑based bidirectional DC‑DC converter, named VNT‑RAV5, at the REI Expo 2026. The product was inaugurated at the VNT booth by Mr. SivaKumar V. Vepakomma, Director (Power Systems) of the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI). VNT‑RAV5 is engineered to connect the solar DC bus directly with battery energy storage systems, allowing energy to flow efficiently in both directions for battery charging and discharging.
The converter features a modular architecture that reduces conversion losses, lowers equipment requirements and minimizes system footprint compared with traditional AC‑coupled configurations. It is targeted at utility‑scale solar and BESS projects, DC‑coupled storage systems, industrial applications and future high‑power energy systems.
Dr. Vikas Almadi, Managing Director of VNT, stated that the future of renewable energy hinges on intelligent storage and management, and that VNT‑RAV5 is designed to make solar‑plus‑storage systems more efficient, scalable and future‑ready.
VNT, known for telecom power systems and protection solutions, has deployed solar solutions across more than 100 GW of solar power plants worldwide. The VNT‑RAV5 is fully designed and manufactured in India and is the first product of its kind in the global market.
