Production Cut Announcement

Volkswagen AG announced that it will reduce output of the T‑Roc Cabrio compact convertible SUV at its Osnabrück plant in Germany. Production of the model will continue at the site until next year, and no further production plans are in place beyond that timeframe. The company said a holiday closure will be extended by one week and additional production‑free days will be added, attributing the move to seasonal demand patterns where convertibles are stronger in the Northern Hemisphere spring and early summer and decline in the second half of the year. A works council spokesperson described the situation as \"precarious,\" stating it amounts to a de‑facto four‑day work week for Osnabrück employees. Volkswagen also indicated it is in advanced talks with defence companies to identify an alternative use for the factory, noting that the T‑Roc Cabrio represents a niche model in its product lineup.
