Volvo Cars announced that Klaus Zellmer will assume the role of president and chief executive officer no later than 1 October 2027, succeeding Hakan Samuelsson. Samuelsson, who was reappointed in 2025 to steer a turnaround, indicated he will not work full‑time after his contract expires in April 2027. At a recent strategy day, Volvo presented a plan to launch 13 models by 2030 with the objective of doubling its market share while contending with U.S. tariffs and a slowdown in Chinese sales. The Swedish automaker, which is majority‑owned by China’s Geely Holding, has missed earlier profitability targets because of the tariffs, weaker electric‑vehicle demand and elevated development costs.
