Volvo Construction Equipment India Launches EC650 Mining Excavator at bauma CONEXPO INDIA 2026
Volvo Construction Equipment India (Volvo CE) commercially introduced the EC650, a 65‑ton class mining excavator, during the bauma CONEXPO INDIA 2026 exhibition held in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh. The EC650 is equipped with a Volvo D13E engine rated at 435 hp and is engineered with a robust undercarriage, heavy‑duty boom and arm, and advanced hydraulics designed to deliver best‑in‑class fuel efficiency and durability for the toughest mass‑excavation and mining tasks. The product is available for immediate delivery as the mining buying season commences and can also be obtained through Volvo’s Equipment‑as‑a‑Service (EaaS) offering, underscoring a customer‑centric approach to accelerating adoption of advanced solutions.
In addition to the machine itself, Volvo CE will provide customers with a suite of connected services, productivity solutions, repair and maintenance agreements, and application‑led offerings aimed at improving uptime, efficiency, and overall site performance, thereby contributing to India’s infrastructure growth and the vision of a "Viksit Bharat."
The launch was part of Volvo CE’s broader showcase that included its 20‑tonne excavator range (EC210, EC215, EC220) for road, urban, quarrying, and river‑bed mining applications, as well as electric wheel loaders (EC300, SD110, DD90, L120) and mining‑focused equipment (EC480, EC650, L150). This exhibition reinforced the company’s "Aaj Banayein Kal" campaign, which calls on India’s builders to shape the nation’s future.
Speaking at the event, Dimitrov Krishnan, Managing Director of Volvo Construction Equipment India, highlighted that India’s mining sector is operating at unprecedented scale and intensity, demanding equipment that is both reliable under extreme conditions and fuel‑efficient. He positioned the EC650 as a dependable partner for mining operators, aligning with the country’s growth narrative.
Volvo CE also reiterated its long‑term commitment to India by referencing its earlier announcement of investment in a Technology Centre in Bengaluru, which will drive research and development, localisation, and product innovation for both the Indian and global markets.
