Waymo Recalls 3,791 Robotaxis Over Flood Risk

Waymo is recalling 3,791 U.S. robotaxis due to a software flaw that could cause them to drive onto flooded roads, NHTSA said.
The recall targets specific fifth‑ and sixth‑generation Automated Driving Systems, with interim weather‑related constraints and updated maps added as a temporary fix.
A remedy is development, and NHTSA probes a January incident where a Waymo vehicle struck a child near a Santa Monica school.
The NTSB is also investigating a January incident where Waymo vehicles passed a stopped school bus with lights on, violating Texas law.
