Acquisition Overview
Wedknott, an elite matchmaking platform founded in 2018 and headquartered in Noida, announced on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, that it has acquired a majority equity stake in Aurezia Events, a premium wedding planning and design company. The purchase price was not disclosed. Aurezia Events will continue to operate under its own brand and will expand its services into the broader weddings and events segment, with its founder remaining on board as Co‑Founder and Director.
Strategic Rationale
According to Wedknott, approximately 45 percent of the couples matched on its platform have requested assistance with wedding planning, indicating a demand for end‑to‑end services beyond matchmaking. The combined offering is slated to be launched during the current wedding season across metropolitan areas, Tier‑1 cities and popular destination wedding locations.
Market Context
India hosts nearly 10 million weddings each year, representing a market estimated at USD 130 billion (about Rs 11 lakh crore). The sector is highly fragmented, with a single wedding typically involving dozens of vendors for venues, décor, photography and hospitality, leading to wide variation in quality and accountability.
Company Profile and Funding
Wedknott serves more than 2,000 families across 75 cities and four continents. In January 2026, the company raised funding from serial entrepreneur and investor Pratik Gauri, known for promoting the concept of a purpose‑driven 5th Industrial Revolution and recognized by the World Economic Forum, Forbes and TED.
Leadership Quote
Wedknott Founder and CEO Abhinav Gandhi said, “Finding the right partner was never the end of our responsibility. It was the beginning of a bigger journey. Nearly half our couples were already asking us to stay on.”
