Stock Reaction

Xos Inc (NASDAQ:XOS) shares rose 5.8% in after‑hours trading on Wednesday following the announcement that Xcel Energy had placed a follow‑on order for three additional Xos Hub mobile charging systems.

Order Details

The new order adds three Xos Hub units to Xcel Energy’s fleet. Two of the units will provide fast‑charging capability for Xcel’s fleet vehicles at service centers in Arvada and Grand Junction, Colorado, while the third unit will supply charging for customers impacted by construction projects in the Denver area.

Prior Deployments and Performance

Xcel Energy initially deployed two Hub units in 2024, which have collectively delivered approximately 33,000 kWh of charging to date. The mobile charging platform can become operational within days, a stark contrast to the six‑to‑eighteen‑month timeline typically required for permanent DC charging infrastructure.

Cost and Installation Advantages

According to Xos, the Hub units can reduce electricity costs by up to 40% versus standard DC fast chargers in certain applications by leveraging off‑peak grid charging. Each Hub delivers DC fast charging without the need for permits, permanent utility upgrades, or extended installation timelines.

Product Line Expansion

The order follows a recent twelve‑unit follow‑on Hub order from an autonomous fleet operator. In January 2026, Xos expanded the Hub lineup to three capacity tiers, with the highest tier offering up to 630 kWh of energy storage per unit.

Executive Comments

Giordano Sordoni, Chief Operating Officer of Xos, said, “Our relationship with Xcel Energy has grown from an initial deployment into an ongoing collaboration.” Robert Kenney, President of Xcel Energy – Colorado, added, “These additional Xos Hub mobile charging systems will help keep our growing EV fleet moving while also providing customers with flexible charging options during important grid improvement projects.”
