On 23 June 2026 Yamaha Music India issued a press release announcing the launch of the EAD50, an electronic acoustic drum module priced at ₹1,69,990. The EAD50 incorporates Yamaha’s DSU50 sensor unit that captures a full drum kit from a single position using a pair of custom microphones. It provides eight independent balanced outputs, an 8‑in/10‑out USB multi‑channel audio interface, a built‑in sampler, upgraded sound and effects engines, a Neutrik XLR/TRS combo jack supporting both mic and line inputs, wireless control via the EAD Touch app (available on Android, iOS and macOS), and includes a download of Cubase AI. The DSU50 sensor can also be purchased separately as a high‑quality standalone microphone for drums, percussion or other suitable instruments.

The company also announced that acclaimed Indian drummer, composer and music director Ranjit Barot has been appointed as a Yamaha artist for the EAD50. Barot said the EAD50 represents a significant innovation in drum technology and expressed enthusiasm for partnering with Yamaha Music India to help India’s drumming community discover its potential. He will champion the product at various events and workshops. Tony Cox, Deputy Unit Head of Yamaha Music India, stated that the launch marks the next evolution in acoustic drum technology and that the system empowers drummers to take complete control of their sound in live performances and studio recordings.
