Airbus Q2 2026 Earnings Overview
Airbus reported a sharp rise in its second‑quarter 2026 earnings, driven primarily by stronger commercial aircraft deliveries and improved performance across its business segments, while reaffirming its full‑year guidance.
The company posted second‑quarter revenue of €20.5 billion, representing a 28% increase compared with the same quarter a year earlier. Adjusted earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) climbed 54% to €2.43 billion, and reported EBIT more than doubled to €2.52 billion. Net income surged 126% year‑on‑year to €1.66 billion, delivering earnings per share of €2.10. Despite the robust results, Airbus shares fell 2.5% in early Paris trading.
Within the commercial aircraft division, revenue rose 37% to €15.4 billion, and reported EBIT surged 150% to €1.95 billion. The Defence and Space segment increased revenue by 10% to €3.48 billion, with reported EBIT more than doubling to €408 million. Helicopters revenue remained broadly stable at €2.08 billion, while reported EBIT edged up 2% to €175 million.
Chief Executive Officer Guillaume Faury highlighted that the strong second‑quarter deliveries reflected steady execution as Airbus ramps up production to meet growing civil and military demand. He noted that the performance supports confidence in the group’s medium‑term outlook. The company maintained its forecast of approximately 870 commercial aircraft deliveries for 2026 and kept its earnings guidance unchanged.
Airbus delivered a total of 351 aircraft in the first half of 2026, with the majority of those deliveries occurring in the second quarter. Earlier in the year, the firm reduced its monthly production plan for the A320 in February and set conservative delivery targets due to engine supply constraints, primarily stemming from RTX’s Pratt & Whitney division. These constraints had previously affected first‑quarter earnings in the commercial business, especially deliveries to China.
Barclays analysts commented that the results further support Airbus’s ambition to achieve €12‑13 billion EBIT by 2029.
