Aixtron Q3 Performance Overview

Aixtron, the German chip‑equipment manufacturer, announced that its preliminary third‑quarter order intake reached approximately €275 million (about $308.72 million), representing a 73% increase over the €124 million recorded in the same quarter a year earlier. This figure surpassed the median analyst estimate of €214.6 million from a company‑provided poll and also exceeded the €214.5 million booked in the second quarter.

Revenue for the quarter rose to roughly €184 million, up from €119.6 million a year earlier, and fell within the company’s guidance range of €180 million ± €20 million. Gross profit was about €87 million, delivering a gross margin of approximately 48%, compared with a 39% margin in the prior‑year quarter.

Operating profit climbed to around €57 million, translating to an operating margin of about 31%, versus €15.4 million and a 13% margin in the year‑earlier quarter. The company attributed the profitability improvement primarily to a favourable product mix.

Chief Executive Officer Felix Grawert highlighted that the strong order intake is driven by robust demand for equipment used in laser applications for AI data‑center communications, stating that the high order intake "clearly strengthens our business prospects for 2027."

JPMorgan commented that, despite broader concerns about AI‑related trade, the pre‑announcement news is likely to drive upgrades to both near‑ and medium‑term estimates for Aixtron.

Following the release, Aixtron shares jumped more than 5% on the trading day. The company indicated that its full third‑quarter financial statement will be published on October 29.
